Watch Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman’ Set For The First Time
Long considered unsuitable – or at least, many have tried and none have succeeded to date – The sand man finally gets its first official TV series. DC Comics’ acclaimed book, first published from 1989 to 1996, Sand seller will now become a big budget series for Netflix. The first season is currently in production.
There aren’t any official photos yet, but Netflix has released a behind-the-scenes tour of the sets, which is especially cool as the one doing the tour is Neil Gaiman, the co-creator and original writer of The sand man series. In the video below you can go along with him as he has the very surreal experience of stepping into the places he first imagined (ho ho) for the show around 35 years ago.
The video also includes brief interviews with Tom Sturridge, who plays Morpheus, and also Gwendoline Christie, who plays Lucifer. (In DC Comics, it’s basically the same Lucifer who appeared in his own comics, and then in the Lucifer TV show that aired for many seasons on Fox and then Netflix. Obviously, this version of the character will be a little different.) Check it out here:
Here’s the official synopsis for the show:
A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend blend seamlessly together, The Sandman follows the people and places touched by Morpheus, the King of Dreams, as he mends cosmic mistakes and human beings its vast existence.
The sand man does not yet have an official release date on Netflix.
