Warner Bros. still looking for an executive to direct DC Films
Just a few weeks ago, it looked like Warner Bros. had finally found his answer to Marvel’s Kevin Feige: the person who would oversee and guide his sprawling multiverse of DC movies and shows. The guy who was in the running for the role, according to media reports, was Dan Lin, the producer of films like The LEGO Batman Movie and and Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes.
But now, a few weeks later, Variety reports that talks between Warner Bros. Discovery and Lin failed, and he’s “no longer in the running” to become DC Films’ go-to man.
According to their report, a big problem was the fact that Lin was already running his own production company, that he wanted Warner Bros. Discovery places under its aegis:
A sticking point in the talks was Lin’s desire for WBD to acquire a stake in his production company, Rideback, which would have continued had Lin taken on the role of DC. However, the terms could not be met and Lin and WBD agreed to part ways.
VarietyThe article does not mention any other names of potential candidates to run Warner Bros. DC Movies and Shows, which means the position could remain vacant for many months to come. Although there are plenty of other executives at Warner Bros. Discovery to make things work in the meantime means there could be even more upheaval if and when WBD hires someone to become their Feige. This person will no doubt want to put their own brand on DC’s upcoming slate, which could potentially lead to further cancellations or creative changes, as we’ve seen in recent months when Warners canceled their project. bat girl movie and other HBO Max projects like strange adventures and Batman: Crusader Caped.
In the meantime, the next DC movie, black adamis set to hit theaters on October 21, 2022.
