From nifty gadgets to smoke capsules, the diverse contents of Batman’s utility belt make him the successful crime fighter he is famous for.

Bruce Wayne is a billionaire, so there’s no limit to the content he can keep in his various belts. Each Batman franchise gives the utility belt a small change in its appearance and the different contents it contains. But some belts stand out much more than others.

Because the film is animated, director Chris McKay was given the ultimate freedom with the utility belt content. In addition to standard tools and weapons, The Lego Batman Movie receives a magic belt with a seemingly endless inventory of supplies.

The Riddler destroyed most of Batman’s suits during the third act of batman forever. What was left was a prototype with sonar capabilities. Most of the sonar upgrades ended up in the hood. The belt itself didn’t see much use when Batman fought the Riddler on Claw Island.

Since this utility belt was briefly used in the film, its characteristics and contents are not well known, except for the typical Batarang and grappling hook. Christopher Nolan used the sonar suit to batman begins auditions and even chose to use the black utility belt of batman forever.

The fourth generation utility belt used in batman and robin did not really differ from its predecessor. The belt was the same color as the costume, had very few unique features, and had no sparkle to draw attention to.

The sleek and subtle design of the belt gives it an edge over the original sonar belt. The Batlaser was used to thaw Robin, who was being held by Mr. Freeze. It appears the suit also held the credit card used in the bidding war with Robin over Poison Ivy.

The brass utility belt was used with the first two Tim Burton Batsuits. Unlike subsequent belts, it did not contain the bat symbol on the buckle. The most notable feature was the slider that moved large gadgets from the back of the waistband to the front.

This belt contained four capsules for different purposes, including smoke, napalm, explosive, and knockout gas. It also contained the spring reel and the grapple zip line. Batman also gained access to his Batarang, blowgun, time bomb, tracer, and communicator for the Batmobile.

Robert Pattinson’s costume in The Batman was one of the most functional costumes in the Batman franchise. It contained the usual items, including a Batarang and its ever-useful grappling hook used to take out the Riddler’s minions.

But Battinson’s utility belt included the very first casual item. In a behind-the-scenes clip, Pattinson can be seen pulling a vape pen out of a pouch and taking a puff before putting it back in the belt.

The third generation belt has had a significant redesign to batman forever. The black utility belt was the first to use the bat emblem on the buckle. Various modules lined the belt which contained different items and replaced the capsules of the first two suits.

The belt contained the typical tools, including the Grapple Gun and Batarangs. It also contained Batcuffs and a Batlaser. Two of the pods contained switches that could activate different features on the suit, including fire retardant.

Animated Batman projects have a lot more freedom when it comes to belts. Not only the Batman: Mask of Phantasm and The animated series include the basic tools they allowed The Dark Knight to summon the Batboat, including an indicator light to show the ship was nearby.

The control panel in the loop gave Batman the ability to target any object, including the Joker’s laughing gas barge, with laser-guided precision. Unlike the other belts, the Animated Utility Belt contained knives and a camera for investigation and observation purposes.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League has produced one of the toughest utility belts. It contains the typical items, including a grappling hook and Batarangs that Ben Affleck’s Batman used to maim criminals. It also included a branding tool and a disruptor.

The DCEU Utility Belt also contained a breathing mask, infrared goggles, a grenade launcher, and a rebreather. Unbeknownst to viewers, Bats was also able to install his smoke pods, lock hooks, handcuffs, and Batmobile remote.


1 Adam West’s Top Utility Belt Had Everything in Batman: The Movie

Adam West’s utility belt included the standard items including the Batarang, Batrope, and Bat-cuffs, but went further than any utility belt. The bright yellow four-pocket belt also holds a Bat-Magnifying Lens, Bat-Swat, and Batlube. In the truly exaggerated style of batman: the moviethe belt also contained the gases Batsleep and Bat-Wake, Bat-antidote and Batcillin, and the popular repellent Bat-Shark.

The classic belt also contained an array of gadgets with the Imitato and Bat-speech Translator, Bat-spot Analyzer, and Bat-homing Transmitter. It included unique listening devices, the Bat directional sight, cell phone Bat-plugs for wireless use, an innovative feature not common in the 60s.
