‘Superman & Lois’ Doesn’t Set in the Arrowverse

For a long time, Arrowverse fans have been hoping to see a new crossover featuring the characters from Superman and Lois. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen. There are several reasons for this. First, the showrunner of Superman and Lois revealed that the show is not put in the Arrowverse at all. In recent months, there is also the unfortunate cancellation of two Arrowverse programs, batman and Legends of tomorrow.
Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, who play Superman and Lois Lane respectively, both showed up in the Arrowverse. It should logically follow that the show’s characters are in the Arrowverse, right? Not exactly. Comic book properties rarely work the way we think they should. Todd Helbing, the showrunner, recently had a interview with looperin which he explains:
We are a different planet, a different Earth. The Superman you’ve seen in all the crossovers isn’t the same as the Superman on our planet, he’s clearly a lookalike. Part of how this all fits into the big picture with DC is ultimately a DC decision. I’m sure there will be more clarity in the future, but as of now, we’re a different Earth in the DC Universe.
He also explained that doing crossovers now would be next to impossible. Actors involved in the now canceled CW shows will not be returning. They will be busy with other projects. He said:
This version of what we did is probably [done] because we don’t have all these characters anymore, [From] these shows, all the actors are going to go on and do different projects, or life is going to keep them busy. It’s hard to speculate otherwise that these are still comic book shows. There are guests on comic book shows all the time.
If we see any notable DC guest stars in the future of Superman and Lois Helbing says it would probably be Grant Gustin from The flash.
“I love Grant. Grant is a friend,” Helbing said. It’s a bit tricky now to do all that, but we’ll see what happens.”
