Leslie Grace Reveals First Look at Her ‘Batgirl’ Movie Costume
Actress Leslie Grace just dropped the first look at her version of Batgirl from her upcoming HBO Max solo film. Posting to her Instagram, Grace shared a photo of herself in costume with a caption quoting the Batgirl: Year One cartoon: “I’m using their expectations against them. This will be their weakness. Not mine. Let them all underestimate me… And when their guard is down and their pride rises, let me kick their ass.
Grace’s Batgirl costume bears a strong resemblance to the version that was first introduced to the pages of DC Comics in 2014, with her typical Spandex look replaced with a leather motorcycle jacket and pants. It was designed for the comics by artist Cameron Stewart. Everything from the style of the mask, to the colors, to the two-tone cape, is inspired by this version of the character.
Batgirl’s purple and yellow color scheme is also reminiscent of the version of the character played by Yvonne Craig in the 1960s. Batman TV shows. the Batgirl: Year One The Grace quoted series was published in 2003 and was written by Scott Beatty and Chuck Dixon with art by Marcos Martin. As the title suggests, it follows that Barbara Gordon takes her first steps towards becoming a masked crime-fighter.
In addition to Grace, the cast of bat girl features JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Brendan Fraser as supervillain Firefly, and Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne, reprising his role as the flash and obviously the first two Batman movies before that.
bat girl is set to air later in 2022 on HBO Max.
