Jared Leto Says ‘Tron 3’ Is Getting Closer
It’s been 12 years since tron the legacy opened in theaters. Generally, when you pass a decade since a franchise last produced a sequel, that means the series is pretty much dead. But 28 years have passed between tron and Tron the legacy. So 12 years is nothing! If anything, tron 3 is always ahead of schedule.
The project began to pick up steam in the summer of 2020, when director Garth Davis reportedly tapped to direct. Morbius and Maison Gucci’Jared Leto in the movie. Leto confirmed he was attached to the film and even revealed a working title: Tron: Ares. Again, this is great progress for a tron sequel which, if it followed the franchise’s previous schedule for sequel releases, wouldn’t even come out until 2038.
Jared Leto promotes Morbius right now, and when asked about his tron by ScreenRant, he didn’t give an update with concrete details, but said the project is “getting closer and closer.” His full quote:
I’m a huge Tron fan, and we’re working hard on Tron with our amazing partners at Disney. Just an amazing group of creative people. We are getting closer. We’re getting closer and closer, and who knows? something can be [coming] better late than never.
Leto has previously stated that “the original video game and the movie [of Tron] affected me deeply as a young child” and called the chance to headline a “breathtaking” sequel. So he seems like legit hardcore tron fan. That kind of passion is what will really keep what ultimately amounts to a pretty cult (but very expensive) franchise well into the future.
Waiting at Leto’s Morbiusabout the vampire from Marvel Comics, hits theaters on April 1.
