‘Flash’ director gives first look at Michael Keaton’s Batman costume
Good luck with not getting goosebumps looking at the photo below. This is from Andy Muschietti, director of the next film version of The flash. And it gives us our first look at the new (and technically also old) bat costume that will be worn by Michael Keaton in the film. The photo posted by Muschietti on Instagram shows this iconic bat logo from the Tim Burton Batman films, strewn with drops of blood. It does not contain a caption, so you will need to provide your own.
Flash the film will actually feature several Batman; Ben Affleck’s Michael Keaton and Dark Knights are slated to appear in the film. But unless Affleck’s Bruce Wayne has had a major overhaul of his design aesthetic, it has to be Keaton’s costume. Affleck’s Batsuit from all DC Comics movies is all black and gray or dark blue. It’s the Keaton costume that always had this bright yellow and black oval logo on the chest. In the old Burton films, the logo was a solid piece; in the new costume, it looks like the bat emblem itself is lifted off the yellow part of the shield. Still, 90s kids would recognize this logo anywhere. It even has the weird geometric molded pecs that Keaton’s costume had in The return of Batman. (See the image at the top of the article for a comparison.)
From the teaser image, it looks like Flash sticks to the concept art of the film released last summer:
Flash is slated to open in theaters on November 4, 2022. (Presumably we’ll see an image from The Flash eventually.)
