Agreement with Wireless Infrastructure Group (WIG) in connection with the closing of the transaction with CK Hutchison in the United Kingdom, in accordance with the final undertakings accepted by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) of the United Kingdom.
Barcelona / London – Cellnex Telecom announced today that it has agreed to the divestment of a group of approximately 1,100 sites with Wireless Infrastructure Group (“WIG”), in accordance with the definitive commitments offered by Cellnex and CK Hutchison and accepted by the Competition and Markets (“CMA”) in May this year (“Final Commitments”) prior to the closing of Cellnex’s transaction with CK Hutchison in the UK.
Cellnex expects this transaction with the British telecommunications infrastructure operator (WIG) to be finalized by the end of this year.
“The divestment agreement with WIG allows us to meet the conditions required by the UK Competition and Markets Authority and to proceed with the closing of the UK CK Hutchison transaction, the last of the transactions announced in November 2020 to integrate CK Hutchison’s global telecommunications sites in six European countries,” said Alex Mestre, deputy general manager of Cellnex Telecom.
The closing of the UK CK Hutchison transaction in the UK is expected to take place in early/mid-November.
